President's Message

Exciting times are ahead as we continue to grow and build in our 50th year of existence!

For my first message as president I would like to first thank Janice Alvarado, RHIA for her outstanding service as president this past year. We had many accomplishments under her administration and I hope to add to those this coming year. Thank you to those who came to the installation event, we had a wonderful time and a great showing. For those who missed it I want to share with you a brief overview of my installation address which outlined the goals of this year’s administration.

I ask that the members of this organization REAACT! Yes there are two “A’s” in this REAACT. RESPOND, EDUCATE, ALIGN ASSETS, COMMUNITY, & TECHNOLOGY…R-E-A-A-CT. It means to RESPOND to the call, what is the call? Come back and get involved in CFHIMA. EDUCATE ourselves and students with the most relevant and current information. We need to ALIGN ourselves better with our state and national objectives while also aligning with other organizations and vendor partners with common purpose. We need to build our ASSETS and become fiscally viable. We need to regain a sense of COMMUNITY amongst ourselves so that we can be a benefit to the community at large and then go into the community and support activities of related purpose. Last but definitely not least, TECHNOLOGY, we need to better leverage technology to expand our presence and build an awareness of who we are.

The acrostic REAACT is something that I hope WILL be easy for us all to remember. This will be the basis for this administration’s goals this year; Goals that build on the momentum gained this past year and goals that I am hopeful will lay a strong foundation for the future so that this component organization will stay relevant and provide benefits to its membership and community for years. As we go into our summer months, the board a will continue to meet to create the substance and tactics to assist this organization in meeting these goals. I want to thank the 2010-2011 officers in advance for their commitment, and introduce the 2010-11 committee chairs that will play a big role in what we are trying to accomplish this year.

So, thank you and I look forward to working with you all this year!
